India recorded a single-day spike of 65,002 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

This takes the total number of cases in India to 25,26,193. The country reported 996 fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 49,036.

There are 6,68,220 active cases in the country, with at least 18,08,937 patients discharged or cured.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that India is testing for three different vaccines for the novel coronavirus infection in the country.

“Today, three vaccines are in testing stages in India. As soon as the scientists give a green signal, the country will begin their large scale production,” he said.

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort, he also paid tributes to all the Corona warriors in the country.
