Imran Khan's sons appeal to Trump, int'l community for his release

Imran Khan’s sons have made an emotional appeal to former US President Donald Trump and the global community to press for their father’s release from prison in Pakistan, claiming he is being held in inhumane conditions.

British nationals Suleman Khan, 28, and Qasim Khan, 26, spoke publicly for the first time during a live interview on X with citizen journalist Mario Nawfal.

The two sons of the jailed former prime minister said they had exhausted all legal and diplomatic channels, and were now turning to international voices for support.

Imran Khan, 72, has been incarcerated in Adiala Jail since 2023, following a three-year sentence in a corruption case.

He is facing over 150 charges, which his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party insists are politically driven.

Khan served as Pakistan’s prime minister from 2018 until his ousting in 2022.

Qasim Khan said, “We want the international community to act—and who better than Trump to lead the way?”

He emphasized the need for global attention, claiming their father is denied access to doctors, lawyers, and even basic human contact.

Suleman added, “We call on any government that values democracy and free speech—especially the most powerful leader in the world—to support our father's release.”

Their mother, Jemima Goldsmith, has also voiced concern over Khan's solitary confinement, describing him as “completely isolated and literally in the dark.”

The brothers alleged Khan is being punished for his pro-democracy stance, and called for international pressure to ensure not only their father's safety but also the protection of political prisoners in Pakistan.

Zac Goldsmith, their uncle and former UK minister, praised his nephews’ courage, saying they spoke for “an incorruptible leader tortured by a corrupt establishment.”
