India recorded over 1.14 lakh new Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours ending 8 am Sunday, taking the country’s total infections to over 2.88 crore.

This is the lowest spike of daily cases in two months. Out of these, over 14 lakh are active cases while over 2.69 crore people have recovered after testing positive.

With 2,677 new deaths, the toll now stands at 3,46,759. Tamil Nadu remains the topmost contributor with 21,410 new cases.

Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh and Goa governments on Saturday extended the Covid restrictions in their respective states till June 14. However, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin said though lockdown will be in place, some of the curbs will be eased from Monday, except in 11 districts where the number of new cases reported was still high.

Both Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh government also announced cancellation of Class 12 state board examinations.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday announced further measures in his action plan for unlocking the city. Markets and malls will open in Delhi from Monday onwards on the basis of an odd-even system between 10 am and 8 pm, and the Metro will be permitted to function with 50 per cent capacity. Private offices will be allowed to function at 50 per cent strength, Kejriwal said.
