Another Dengue death, 114 hospitased in 24-hours

One person died from dengue and 114 others were hospitalised across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The information was released on Friday (July 18) in a press statement by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the DGHS.

Of the newly hospitalised patients, 10 were from areas outside Barishal city corporation, 43 from areas outside Chattogram city corporation, 31 from areas outside Dhaka city corporation, 10 from Dhaka North City Corporation, 19 from Dhaka South City Corporation, 18 from areas outside Khulna city corporation, and one from outside Mymensingh city corporation.

In the same 24-hour period, 109 dengue patients were released from hospitals. So far this year, 15,117 dengue patients have recovered and been discharged.

From January 1 to July 18 this year, a total of 16,395 people have been diagnosed with dengue, with 58.7% being male and 41.3% female.

The latest fatality, recorded in Dhaka South City Corporation, brings the death toll from dengue this year to 61.

For comparison, in all of 2023, Bangladesh recorded 1,705 dengue deaths and 321,179 hospitalisations. In contrast, from January 1 to December 31 of 2024, the DGHS reported 575 dengue deaths and 101,214 cases as of the latest data.
