‘Saras Danay Paran Pakhi’ at Shilpakala

DHAKA: Deshbangla Theatre will stage a play titled ‘Saras Danay Paran Pakhi’ at the Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in city’s Segun Bagicha area.

The play, scripted by Rashidul Islam Raja and directed by Irin Parvin Lopa, will be staged at 6:30pm on December 20.

The play upholds the rights of women. In the story, Binu, a girl, dreams that women will be able to move free and think free. They will be respected by all.

The girl becomes upset seeing the unexpected death of her elder sister Kanak, who was earlier raped. The reports of other raped girls also make Binu upset and aloof from surroundings.

Rajkumar Pal has designed the set while Palash Sen is responsible for lighting.

Godhuli Mehjabeen will play the role of Binu and Sumon Khan, ZM Jamil Hossain Khan and Daniel Shaon, among others, will play in different roles.

According to the organizers, ‘Saras Danay Paran Pakhi’ is also being staged in different parts of the country to create mass awareness on rape victims.
