Paoli Dam to star in Bangladeshi film ‘Neel Jochona’

Tollywood actor Paoli Dam will be seen again in a Bangladeshi film titled “Neel Jotsna”. Noted Bangladeshi filmmaker Fakhrul Arefeen Khan is making the movie based on Mostaque Ahamed’s parapsychology novel “Neel Jotsnar Jibon”. Paoli Dam will portray the lead role “Laila” in the project.

The official signing ceremony between the actress and filmmaker Fakhrul Arefeen was held at Decalogue Management Centre in Kolkata on Wednesday. Who will act opposite Paoli is yet to be finalised. The director said a Bangladeshi actor will be seen opposite Paoli.

Talking about acting in a Bangladeshi film again, Paoli Dam said, “Last year, director Fakhrul Arefeen Khan contacted me about this movie. First I heard the story from him, as I had not read that book. After I read the book, I liked it more. Honestly speaking, the parallel universe has not been worked on in Bengal. Some films have been done in Hollywood. So I’m looking forward to it.”

Fakhrul Arefeen said, “I started working on the “Neel Jotsna” about 6 years ago. I think there has been no work on parapsychology in Bangladesh before. And that’s why when I read Mostaque Ahamed’s novel, I immediately thought of making a film. Then in 2019, the work was stopped due to corona pandemic and my movie “JK 1971”. Then we started the work again from the beginning of last year. Laila is one of the lead characters in the story, which goes a lot with Paoli Dam, which is why we chose her first for this role.”

The shooting of the movie “Neel Jotsna” will start at the end of next month and will continue till the last week of July.

Earlier, Paoli was appeared in Bangladeshi film “Swatta” opposite Shakib Khan in 2017. She also acted in India-Bangladesh joint venture film “Moner Manush” in 2010.
Fakhrul Arefeen made his first film “Bhuban Majhi” with West Bengal actor Parambrata Chatterjee.

After that, he directed two movies named “Gondi” in 2020 and “JK 1971” in 2023 with legendary Tollywood actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty. “Neel Jotsna” will be his fourth film.
