DHAKA: Chhatra League warns that they would not allow their archrival Shhatra Dal to enforce the countrywide general strike called by the opposition BNP in and around the campus of Dhaka University.

Central president of the ruling Awami League’s student arm Mahmud Hasan Ripon announced the stance in an anti-strike programme held at the university Saturday.

Ripon urged people to maintain normal ply of vehicles and to keep the shops in Palashi, Neelkhet, New Market and Shahbag areas open tomorrow (Sunday).

He said, ”Chhatra League activists will take position in these areas from 6 am and face any untoward situation.”
