English version to be introduced in govt primary school

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain said English version would be launched in a government school in each district.

Two separate English teachers will be appointed in each school to this end, the state minister said while talking to journalists after attending a teachers' training programme at Hotel Intercontinental in the capital on Sunday.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni was the chief guest at the programme.
Zakir Hossain said: “A test run will be done soon and the summary will be sent to Prime Minister for final approval. We will formally begin with the premier's approval.”
“The quality of primary teachers has increased. Utilizing it, we want to prepare our students more skilled in English,” the state minister said.

With assistance of British Council, around 1,000 primary teachers will be given training on English language at nine Primary Training Institutes (PTI). Gradually, 1,30,000 more teachers will be given the training, the minister said.
