The government has directed all primary schools of the country to promote their respective students to upper class through individual assessments conducted by teachers.
Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) issued letters to officials concerned in this regard on Monday.
The decision was taken due to the ongoing closure of educational institutions amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Director General of Directorate of Primary Education Alamgir Muhammad Mansurul Alam said all primary students will get promotion. They will be assessed by their respective institutions but their roll number will remain same in the next class.
Earlier on March 16, the Ministry of Education issued a press release regarding the government decision of closing all educational institutions and coaching centres from March 18 to 31 in wake of Covid-19 outbreak.
Later the closure was extended till December 19 in several phases. No classes have been held since that day.
