The Education Ministry has formed a three-member body to investigate the gang-rape of a woman in a dormitory of Sylhet Murari Chand (MC) College on last Friday.
Secondary and Higher Education Division of the ministry on Monday formed the body making Prof Md Shahedul Khabir Chowdhury, director (college and administration) of Secondary and Higher Education Directorate, as the convener.
The committee was asked to submit report within three working days and final report within seven working days.
Five named accused have so far been arrested by the law enforcers, along with two other unnamed accused in the case.
On September 25, a newly-married woman was raped allegedly by a group of Chhatra League activists in a dormitory of MC College in Sylhet.
On information, Police rescued the couple from the dormitory around 10:30 pm and admitted the woman to the One-Stop Crisis Centre at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital, he added.
Later, the victim’s husband filed a case with Shah Poran Police Station early Saturday against six named accused and three unnamed accused.
