JU teacher jailed for bad remarks on PM

DHAKA: Lecturer Ruhul Amin Khandakar of Jahangirnagar University has been jailed for three years for making derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Facebook.

Dhaka Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Nazmul Haq Shamol passed the order on Wednesday and asked to serve six more months in jail in default of Tk 10,000 fine. However, Ruhul Amin is at large now.

Muhammad Ruhul Amin Khandaker, a lecturer of the university's Institute of Information Technology, who is now in Australia on study leave.

After the death of filmmaker Tareque Masud and journalist Ashfaque Munier Mishuk in a road accident in Manikganj, Ruhul Amin commented on his Facebook page on August 13 why Sheikh Hasina does not die when many people were dying in road accidents.
