New generation moves country forward

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, SAVAR: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Saturday said with its world-class talent, the new generation will help the country move forward.

The minister made the observations while addressing a two-day information technology (IT) festival that started at Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Friday (April 24).

The slogan of this year’s festival is ‘ICT for Environment’.

Nahid also said his incumbent government has given a special importance to IT education adding that a hi-tech Park is being constructed in the country with job facilities for 70,000 people.

JU vice-chancellor (VC) Dr Farzana Islam said today’s talented youth will lead tomorrow’s Bangladesh.

With Institute of Information Technology of JU director Fazlul Karim Patwari in the chair, Dr Enamur Rahman MP, JU pro-VC Professor M Abul Hossain, Treasurer Professor Abul Khair, Computer Science and Engineering Department chairman Dr Sharif Uddin, Bangladesh Computer Council executive director SM Ashraful Islam and Janata Bank Ltd manager Abu Nasser, among others, addressed the program.

IT specialist Dr Kaikobad was given a lifetime achievement award.

Country’s leading online news portal Banglanews24.com was the media partner of the IT festival.

‘IT Society’ of the university organized the event titled ‘1st National Technology Festival’. Students from 40 different educational institutes – 10 colleges and 30 universities – participated here.

The event featured gamming event, programming, and workshops on outsourcing, cyber crimes, 3D and game development.
