Nahid meets law enforcement agencies Sunday

DHAKA: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid will meet law enforcement agencies in holding upcoming Higher Secondary Certificate and equivalent examinations properly.

The meeting will be held at conference room in the Ministry of Education of the Secretariat at 11 am Sunday.

Deputy Chief Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education Subodh Chandra Dhali confirmed the matter to banglanews.

HSC and equivalent examinations are scheduled to begin from April 1. Around 12 lakh students will appear the examination.

According to several officials of the Ministry of Education, the exams will be held in accordance with schedule despite the hartal-blockade.

Ministry of Education could not take the exams as per schedule due to hartal called by BNP-led alliance. The exams were held on Friday and Saturday non-stop blockade.

To take the HSC exams in accordance with schedule, the Ministry of Education, on Thursday, has sent semi-official letter to Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Officer-in-Charge (OC) of thanas, said sources concerned.

Letters were also sent to the Ministry of Home and the Cabinet Division in this regard, they added.

From the beginning of February, spells of hartals have been enforced by the alliance across the country in every working day; but last Wednesday and Thursday were strike-free.

The shutdowns have forced to postpone 16 day’s SSC exams on 368 theoretical subjects. Practical subjects’ exams have also been rescheduled.
