Primary school teachers to be trained abroad

DHAKA: Government has moved for sending the best teachers and officers of primary schools abroad to develop their skill, said sources concerned.

People’s representatives will also be included in this sort of program, they added.

Director General (DG) of the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) M Alamgir told banglanews that the teachers will get opportunities to receive training at different institutions in India, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

According to the DG, quality increase in primary education is the main objective for sending teachers abroad for training. Skill of the teachers will be enhanced and others will also be encouraged as well, he added.

DPE director (training) Sanjay Kumar Chowdhury said a list of the best teachers in national, divisional, district, upazila and thana levels has been prepared to send them abroad.

Some 28 teachers - in two phases - will be sent to Thailand and Sri Lanka in the first week of February to get training there, he added.

Teachers will expense nothing, as the DG said adding more, government will bear training fees, accommodation costs and air fares of them, who will receive training abroad.

The DEP official concerned told banglanews that minimum Tk 2 lakhs will be spent for each person on training purpose.

However, a total of 37 batches consisting of 14 teachers will be sent abroad under the project titled “Primary Education Development Project-3 (PDP-3)” of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
