Politics at Islamic Univ banned

ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY: Authorities of Islamic University has imposed ban on political activities on the campus for indefinite period.

Political activities including rally, procession, meeting and staying at party tents inside the campus will not be allowed during this ban, said the university administration.

IU proctor professor Dr Mahbubur Rahman told media after an emergency meeting of the administration at 11:00am on Monday.

He told banglanews that the decision has come to avoid any untoward incident on the campus.

This ban will remain effective till further direction, he added.

Besides, the administration has yet to take any decision regarding the opening of residential halls from Tuesday.

According to the sources, the administration is in another emergency meeting on this issue.

University pro vice-chancellor professor Dr Shahinur Rahman, proctor professor Dr Mahbubur Rahman, among others, were present at the meeting, chaired by vice-chancellor professor Dr Abdul Hakim Sarkar.

The administration will gradually exchange views with teachers, officials and student organizations regarding this matter, the sources added.
