R I M Aminur Rashid, retired professor of the Physics Department at Dhaka University and former vice-chancellor of Bangladesh Open University, passed away early Friday morning at the age of 80.

He died at 5:20am on 8 August while undergoing treatment at a clinic in Dhaka. At the time of his death, he was surrounded by family members and left behind numerous relatives and well-wishers.

The teachers’ organisation Sada Dal, which represents Dhaka University academics who believe in Bangladeshi nationalism, expressed deep sorrow and condolences over the passing of Aminur Rashid.
