The government has said that a decision regarding onion import will be taken within two or three days.

Agriculture minister Md Abdur Razzaque made the remark while talking to journalists at his secretariat office on Sunday (May 21).

The minister also said, "We will take the decision after monitoring the market situation closely." 

He said, 'If onion prices after monitoring the local market cannot be fixed then we will import from India.'

The price of onion should not be more than Tk 45 per kg. If imported, the price may fall below Tk 45, he said.

‘We have discussed it at the highest level of policymaking. We are monitoring the market very closely. Insha’Allah, you will get a decision on whether we will import onions in 2 to 3 days,’ he added.
