DHAKA: A world traveler who goes by the name of Najmun Nahar wished to travel 200 countries before the celebration of golden jubilee of independence.
Nahar has already traveled 135 countries, but is hoping to complete the number 200 by 2021.
Najmun Nahar launched her mission with participation of India International Adventure Program in 2000.
Najmun Nahar recalled her bitter-sweet memories during the travel that she came across.
She said she overcame obstacles from every angle, but eventually triumphed. She inherited the enthusiasm of travel from her grandfather who traveled from 1926 to 1931. Besides, she read a lot of books on traveling in her child.
Najmun said she came face-to-face with death for five times during her travel to 135 countries.
In her advice to aspiring travelers, Najmun Nahar said: “Gender difference should not come into play with regard to travel. If obstacles arise, get down to overcoming those.”
In her advice to make Bangladesh adventure-friendly, she said: "First, ensure security, change mindset of people. Workshop and education can play a vital role to attract tourists. Tourist guide and hospitality should be made available to foreigners. Exhibition of Bangladesh’s history and heritage is another point to be noted."
