SUST students continue strike

SYLHET: Students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) continued strike on the campus on Thursday demanding removal Assistant Professor of Public Administration department Nasir Uddin.

Earlier in the morning, hundreds of agitating students brought out a protest procession that paraded the whole campus. The protesters took position at the main gate of the campus.

Maximum classes and examinations were cancelled and no movement of the vehicles was seen in the campus area.

The agitating students also put the Department of Public Administration under lock and key on Wednesday and also held a rally and confined Vice Chancellor Professor Aminul Haque Bhuiyan for an hour to mount pressure on the authorities concerned refusing the decision and urged to terminate the teacher forever.

The university authority, however, at an emergency syndicate meeting on Tuesday, suspended the accused teacher of Public Administration Department for one year.

The teacher was accused of demeaning a female student after she was sexually harassed by an employee.

Sariful Islam Bulbul, the spokesperson of the protest, said further tougher movements would be enforced if our demand is not met.
