Both DSE, CSE witnessing fall

DHAKA: Trading on the country’s two bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- is underway with downward trend of share-price indices on Wednesday (July 10).

Within first two hours of trading, the key index of the country's major bourse lost 26.71 points while the Selective Category Index of the port city bourse fall 132.92 points.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 26.71 points or 0.50 percent to 5253.32 points at 12:22pm.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also declined 0.55 points or 6.69 percent to stand at 1200.79points.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, shed over 7.41 points or 0.39 percent to reach at 1868.10 points.

Turnover stands at Tk 1794.69 million on the DSE, riding on Prime Insurance Company Ltd and Asian Tiger Sandhani Life Growth Fund.

Prime Insurance Company Limited dominated the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 63.74 million changing hands till then, followed by Asian Tiger Sandhani Life Growth Fund and Dhaka Insurance Ltd.

Of the issues traded till then, 82 advanced, 227 declined and 33 issues remained unchanged. 

However, the port city bourse, the CSE, saw negative trend till then with its Selective Category Index - CSCX – declining 132.92 points or 0.82 percent to stand at 16,067 also at 12:21 pm.

Out of 204 issues traded, 34 gained, 155 declined and 17 remained unchanged with shares worth Tk 75.51 million traded.
