DHAKA: The award giving ceremony of the four-day long BASIS Soft Expo-2018 held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) on Saturday evening (February 25).

Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology minister Mustafa Jabbar was the chief guest at the program.

Mustafa Jabbar said BASIS Soft Expo is the largest platform for the software makers of the country. This year’s objective was to present a clear idea to future consumers about the efficiency of locally made software and after sales services.

He also urged everyone to take preparations starting from today to participate in the next year’s Soft Expo with more ideas and innovations. From now on, BASIS will work to uphold the quality and technical values of locally made software in public and private sector, Jabbar added.

Soft Expo convener Mostafizur Rahman Sohel said, “Young people’s curiosity and excitement in the day long sessions was very encouraging. Young freelancers from different parts of the country eagerly participated in the seminars. BASIS will try its best to create programs in future to connect these freelancers.”

BASIS president Syed Almas Kabir said, “Arranging such a big event is always a challenge and I am grateful to all who tried their best to make it easier. A delegation from Ethiopia visited the Expo and asked for our recommendation to arrange such a big event. It shows that the ICT sector of Bangladesh is already known as a role model in the outside world. We must take advantage of the situation. BASIS will work to arrange even bigger events in future.

In Innovative Project category, Daffodil University made design ‘Kaktarua’ won first runner up prize, Daffodil University’s ‘Robotic Arm’ was second runner up and locally made robot ‘Bangro’ won the champion award.
