Army to be deployed in polls if deemed necessary: Quader Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader talking to reporters

FENI: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said if necessary, army might be deployed in the upcoming general election as per constitution.

Mentioning that the government is not opposed to army deployment, he said if it deemed necessary, the election commission will ask the government and the decision will be made based on the situation.

Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, made the remarks to reporters while inspecting traffic movement on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Fatehpur railway over bridge area of Feni on Friday morning (June 15).

He also said Eid journey is much smoother compared to previous years. Home-bound travelers are safely reaching home with any traffic congestion on highways. 

The minister also greeted countrymen on Eid-ul Fitr. He also praised law enforcing agencies and other on-duty officials involved on highway traffic management. 

Feni Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Roy, Superintendent of Police SM Jahangir Alam Sarker, Feni Municipality Panel Mayor Swapan Miazi and District Jubo League President Shusen Chandrashil were also present at the time.
