Health minister asks CEC to talk less Health minister Mohammad Nasim at an inauguration ceremony

DHAKA: Health minister Mohammad Nasim has given suggestion to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Nurul Huda to talk less about politics and focus on holding a fair election.

He made the remark to reporters while inaugurating central nebulizer system in the National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital in city’s Mohakhali area on Tuesday noon (Oct 17).

During the dialogue with BNP, CEC KM Nurul Huda said the BNP's founder late president Ziaur Rahman restored multi-party democracy in the country. CEC faced criticism from government leaders over the remark.

Nasim said, “We, the politicians, will handle the talks, you (CEC) should focus on your work in the Election Commission.”

Nasim also said Awami League will participate in the EC dialogue on Oct 18 with a proposal of free and fair election. However, he refused to disclose the contents to be discussed in the dialogue.

He has also thrown challenge to opposition BNP for hanging around in the filed of politics. Mentioning BNP, he said, “The final game will be played on the field of election. Don’t leave the field yet. AL will form the government again with majority seats in the next election.”

Secretary of Health and Family Planning, Md. Sirajul Haque Khan, director of the National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital Md. Shahidur Rahman Khan were among others present in the inaugural ceremony presided by Health Department Director General Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad.
