Myanmar vows to ruin Bangladesh economy: Muhith

GAZIPUR: Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith on Sunday (September 24) said that Myanmar is trying to damage the economy of Bangladesh by sending their people here.

“Bangladesh is going through a tough time right now. More than four lakhs of refugees have come from Myanmar and taken shelter here. Myanmar is trying to damage our economy by sending Rohingyas”, said Muhith.

The minister was talking to the reporters while inaugurating a health camp at a garment factory in Gazipur, in the morning.

“We are the people who have faced Liberation War. We have made our country independent by participating in the war with arms in hands. We have never forgotten that we took shelter outside. Therefore, we have sheltered the refugees.”

“But, we want the rights of Rohingyas to be established in their own country. We will always try to establish their rights. Our Prime Minister is continuing the effort at the United Nations in this regard”, added the minister.

Zahid Ahsan Russel MP, Gazipur Metropolitan unit Awami League President Azmat Ullah Khan and AnnonTex Group Managing Director Badol Yunus were among others present there.
