SYLHET: Ashraf Babul, acting chairman of the Ghilachhara Union Parishad of Fenchuganj upazila in Sylhet, has been suspended on charge of embezzling fund.

He was suspended in line with an order given by the Local Government Division (LGD).

The chairman was accused for embezzlement of over Tk. 36 lakh of LGSP-2 project. The UP secretary was also accused on the charge. The LGD found primary evidence of their corruption and took the decision.

The LGD asked the authorities concerned to take divisional action against the chairman and the secretary.
