8 JCD leaders held in Sylhet

SYLHET: Police arrested at least eight leaders of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of the BNP, in Sylhet on Tuesday (August 15).

Police arrested the JCD leaders from the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) in Sylhet city in the evening.

The detainees are- JCD’s Sylhet district unit joint secretary Shamim Ahmed, human rights affairs secretary Dulal Reza, district unit leaders Pavel Ahmed, Md Ali, Koyes Ahmed, Imran Ahmed, Sohel Ahmed and Rasel Ahmed.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali model police station Gausul Hossain told Banglanews that the detainees were cutting cake and joined a milad mahfil on the occasion of BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s birthday. For this reason, they were arrested.
