‘BNP won't join polls without supportive government’

DHAKA: BNP vice chairman Abdullah-al-Noman has said that their party won’t take part in the next Parliamentary elections without the election-time supportive government.

The BNP leader said this while speaking at a rally at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity in the capital city on Tuesday (May 23).

Nurses Association of Bangladesh (NAB), a pro-BNP organization of nurses, arranged the rally marking 36th death anniversary of former President and BNP’s founder Ziaur Rahman and protesting recent police raid at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office.

Noman said that the BNP is ready for the street movement and the talks simultaneously. The newt Parliamentary polls must be held under an election-time supportive government. Otherwise, the BNP would boycott the polls, he added.

He accused the government of hatching conspiracy to destroy the BNP. He said that the BNP is still now a strong party and it won’t be destroyed.

President of NAB Jahanara Siddique chaired the rally, while BNP’s another vice chairman Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, BNP chairperson’s adviser Habibur Rahman Habib, central leaders Principal Selim Bhuiyan and Kader Gani Chowdhury also addressed it, among others.
