PIROJPUR: Miscreants hacked an activist of Jubo League, an associate body of ruling Awami League, in Indurkani upazila in Pirojpur, on Monday night (April 24).

The deceased was identified as Rasel Sheikh, 35, hailed from Lahuri village in the upazila.

Quoting witnesses Pirojpur Police Station’s duty officer, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Sohag Rana told Banglanews that a group of five-six men stabbed Rasel at a tea-stall near his rented house in bypass road area of the town in the afternoon, leaving him critically injured.

Rasel was rushed to Pirojpur Sadar Hospital from where he was shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) as his condition deteriorated.

He died at KMCH around 11:30 pm while undergoing treatment here, he added.

Deceased’s father Razzak Sheikh alleged that men from rival group killed his son over political conflict and previous enmity.

Meanwhile, police detained one Abu Sayeed as a suspect in connection with the murder, ASI Sohag Rana added.
