GAZIPUR: Unidentified assailants hacked a woman and her minor nephew in Chandna area of Gazipur city at early hours of Tuesday (September 18) morning.

The deceased are—Mahmuda Akter, 25, wife of one Ibrahim Khalil from Kalihati upazila of Tangail and Mamun, 7, son of one Shahin Mia under Gafargaon area of Mymensingh. 

Ibrahim Khalil works as the superintendent of Hoffazul Quran Madrasha in Chandna. Mahmuda and her nephew Mamun lived with him at the madrasha, Gazipur metropolitan ward-17 councillor Md Rafiqul Islam told Banglanews. 

On Tuesday, Ibrahim Khalil went to perform Fajr prayer at the nearby mosque accompanying his students.

Meanwhile, unknown assailant(s) hacked Mahmuda and Mamun to death, added the ward councilor.

On information, police went to the scene. 

The bodies will be sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College Hospital for autopsies.
