MEHERPUR: Police detained a man for allegedly strangling his wife, Gulshan Ara, to death in Kyashobpara area of Meherpur town on Sunday morning (August 19).

The detainee is identified as Mahirul Islam. 

Police sources said Mahirul and his wife Gulshan quarreled in the morning and at one point Mahirul choked his wife to death in their rented house. He then left the body at Meherpur General Hospital and went to police station to file a General Diary (GD). However, police detained him as the murder suspect. Police also sent the body to hospital morgue for autopsy. 

Meherpur sadar police station officer-in-charge (OC, Probe) Mehedi Hasan told Banglanews that the husband has confessed to the crime and legal action is being taken against him.
