GAZIPUR: A female ready-made garments worker was killed under the wheel of a covered-van on Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in Chandna Chowrasta area of Gazipur. 

The deceased was identified as Salma Begum, 40.

She was hailed from Kalideshi area under Barisal’s Bakerganj thana.

A covered-van crushed Salma while she was crossing the road, leaving her dead on the spot, Naojor Highway Police Outpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Kamrul Islam told Banglanews.

The body has been kept at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue.

The van was recovered while the driver managed to flee away.
