SUHRAWDY UDYAN: After being accorded a reception by the Awami League, the party president and also Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina dedicated the honour to the people of the country.

The prime minister said this while addressing the AL reception program, organised to commemorate her glorious achievements, at the Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon (July 21).

Sheikh Hasina said, “This Monihar (Necklace symbolizing victory and success) is not mine but for people. I don’t need a reception. I came to work for people and doing just that.”
 
Mentioning that she has no other objectives other than ensuring food, accommodation, clothes and better life for people, the premier said, “I am just a mere servant and my only concern is whether people are being deprived or not. I have no other desire.”

Dedicating this mass reception program to the people of Bangladesh, the prime minister said “I will consider myself truly successful on that day when fate of this nation will change.”

Sheikh Hasina also said, “Building a prosperous Bangladesh is my only aim as it was the dream of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

She also slammed those who oppose ‘Boat’ (AL party symbol) asking them whether they want to bring the BNP-Jamaat alliance back to power.

The ruling Awami League has honored its President Sheikh Hasina for her contributions to the successful launch of the Bangabandhu-1 satellite, country’s graduation from ‘least developed’ to ‘developing’ status, attainment of the Global Women's Leadership Award in Australia, and Doctor of Literature (DLitt) degree from Kazi Nazrul University (KNU) of India. 

Thousands of leaders, activists and supporters of ruling Awami League gathered at Suhrawardy Udyan to accord this reception program to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina amid festivities. 

Tight security measures were taken to ensure security for the program.
