Hairdresser comes under acid attack in Mirpur

DHAKA: A 45-year-old hairdresser sustained burn injuries when an alleged local drug dealer hurled acid on him in Millat Camp adjacent to Mirpur section-11 in the capital on Tuesday evening (July 17).

Md Parvez, the victim, was rushed to Kurmitola Hospital and later shifted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

He sustained burn injuries to his face, neck, chest and hands.

One Jony, an accomplice of a local drug dealer, hurled him acid while he was staying at a fellow hairdresser’s saloon around 7pm, said Parvez.

He was hurled acid as he protested the drug dealing in the camp area, added the victim.

“It’s chemical burn. Parvez received burn injuries to 12 per cent of his body. He is undergoing treatment,” DMCH burn unit physician Dr Saikat told Banglanews.

Police was sent to the spot. Details will be informed later, Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Dadan Fakir told Banglanews.
