JATIYA SANGSAD BHABAN: State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam again claimed that BNP Acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman has eliminated his Bangladeshi citizenship and is now working as the director of a British company.
“There are many evidences to prove that Tarique Rahman has removed his citizenship of Bangladesh,” he said.
The minister was addressing at the general discussion arranged upon the national budget of fiscal year 2018-19, at the national parliament Sunday (June 24).
“His (Tarique’s) name has been mentioned as the director of a British company recently; where his citizenship appeared as ‘British’. It (citizenship) has been removed and replaced by mentioning ‘Bangladeshi’ later though. Wikileaks and several other investigation agencies have published it,” added Shahriar.
“I was served a legal notice by BNP, while I said Tarique Rahman scrapped his Bangladeshi citizenship. I accepted the challenge and proved that Tarique Rahman really isn’t a Bangladeshi citizen anymore. He scrapped the citizenship through surrendering the passport,” the minister said further.
