DHAKA: The fourth international Day of Yoga was observed in the capital city Thursday (June 21).

Marking the day, a yoga program was inaugurated at Bangabandhu International Stadium, at 7 in the morning.

The program included yoga exhibition, mass yoga session and lucky draw lottery.

Road Transport & Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader attended the program as the chief guest while State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder was the special guest.

Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Harsh Vardhan Shringla delivered the welcome speech.

“The country is facing fatal threat of drugs. Yoga can make a strong stance against the drug abuse,” said Obaidul Quader.

Biren Shikder said the yoga is the own invention of the inhabitants of the Indian subcontinent. It has no side effects.

Yoga’s popularity is increasing day by day across the globe, he added.

Athletes, actors, musicians and diplomats were among others attended the program.

It was open for all. The attendees were given gift items including mats and t-shirts.
