MOULVIBAZAR: The road communication between Sylhet and four upazila’s of Moulvibazar remained suspended since Sunday morning (June 17) after levee of Manu river collapsed inundating road and villages. 

Some major roads leading to Moulvibazar went under water due to the flash flood. Several upazilas including Rajnagar, Kulaura, Juri and Barlekha upazilas were fully flooded with waist-high water. 

Even some portions of the Moulvibazar town were also submerged in flood water. Under the circumstances, vehicular movements have been suspended.

Moulvibazar district commissioner (DC) Md Tofail Islam told Banglanews that the district administration is active on tackling the flood. Five shelter centers were opened in city to accommodate victims. Stranded people are being rescued by boats and relief materials are being distributed in upazilas.
