GOPALGANJ: A woman, her daughter and granddaughter were killed as a truck rammed an auto-rickshaw in Majhigati bus stand area of Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj on Wednesday noon (May 23).

The deceased were identified as Selina Begum, 48, wife of one Hafizur Rahman of Joynagar village of the upazila, her daughter Ekamoni and Ekamoni’s daughter Maisha, 3. 

Selina Begum was the head teacher of Joynagar government primary school.

Kashiani police station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Azizur Rahman said Selina and her family members were heading to a nearby Parulia village by an auto-rickshaw to see off a relative who recently died. Meanwhile, a truck hit the auto-rickshaw after the truck driver lost control over steering. Selina died on the spot while Ekamoni, Maisha were critically injured and died later on way to hospital.
