SATKHIRA: Muktamoni, who was diagnosed with Hemangioma tumor in her right hand, has passed away in Kamar Baisha village of Sadar upazila of Satkhira on Wednesday (May 23).
12-year-old girl, hailed from Satkhira, died around 8 am at her residence, said father of the deceased Ibrahim Hossen.
Muktamoni had been suffering from fever for the last few days. Her decomposed right hand was emitting bad odor, as it swelled up. Blood along with white insect were coming out from her hand. Therefore, she was unable to speak.
Ibrahim Hossen told Banglanews that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came for his daughter’s treatment. The government has offered all it could effort. He is grateful to all. He asked everyone to keep his daughter in their prayers.
Muktamoni had been suffering from the rare disease since her early childhood.
Her illness drew widespread attention following a report published in the country’s leading online news portal Banglanews on July 8, 2017.
Muktamoni was then brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with the assistance of a Health Department team.
Later Prime Minster Shiekh Hasina took full responsibility of her treatment.
A seven-member medical board has already been formed at the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
She underwent a few surgeries at DMCH.
On December 22, 2017, she was taken home. She didn’t want come back to DMCH. So, she was having treatment at her residence.
