DHAKA: After losing his 7-month old boy and wife, a man now succumbed to his burn injuries sustained from a gas explosion at their Mirpur residence in Dhaka.

After a day of battling, caretaker Manik Mia, 35, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at 6:30am Thursday (April 26) in Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Manik and his wife Mina Akter were admitted to DMCH burn unit with severe burn injuries Tuesday night (April 24). Mina breathed her last Wednesday (April 25).

On Tuesday, the child Tamim along with his parents sustained severe burn injuries in the gas explosion on the ground floor of their 5-storey building at Road no-4 in Mirpur-11 exploded at 11:50pm.

Tamim died after being taken to a local hospital at that night.

DMCH burn unit residential physician Partha Shankar Paul said that Manik and Mina received burn injuries to 95% and 80% of their bodies.
