DHAKA: Students of Dhaka University have staged demonstration in front of Raju sculpture memorial protesting the alleged eviction of several female students from Sufia kamal hall.

Bangladesh Sadharon Chhatra Odhikar Sangrokkhon Parishad staged the demonstration around 4:00pm Friday (April 20) as per announcement.

During the demonstration, agitators demanded explanation from the university administration for the eviction.

Earlier on Thursday night (April 19), several female students of Dhaka University (DU), who participated in quota reform movement, were allegedly directed to leave the dormitory.

They all are residents of Poet Sufia Kamal Hall.

The girls claimed that the hall provost called them after the evening and asked them to leave the hall. They are the reason the hall is facing problems for, they was explained by the provost.
“The provost mam (madam) said the consequence will be expulsion if any general student who joined the quota movement write anything on Facebook and film anything in the hall”, said a fourth-year student citing the provost.

Several girls were seen leaving the hall accompanying their guardians, around 10:00pm. A few of them were seen weeping.

While contacted, Provost Sabita Rezwana didn’t pick the phone calls.
