DHAKA: Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said his party is thinking about reorganizing the structure of its student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, made the remarks at a seminar organized by AL publicity and publication sub-committee in city’s Engineering Institute on Friday (April 20).
The minister said BCL conference is to be held soon. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed to reform the student wing with a newer model.
In response to a query about BCL men who had been accused for oppression, Quader said no oppressor, whether AL or BCL, can get away with crime. No one will be spared for misdeed.
He also said, “I admit that some embarrassing incidents did take place but our position towards those incidents is clear. Perpetrators will be brought to justice and so far AL delivered the promise. The culture of impunity is present in BNP, not in AL.”
The minister finally said to reporters that AL is planning major positive changes in BCL to create a better and healthy student organization.
