DHAKA: The government has decided to observe a ‘one minute silence’ program on the night of March 25 to mark the Genocide Day and also for International attention to recognize the day.
The one minute silence program will be observed along with blackout.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal made the announcement at a meeting of Dhaka Metropolitan South unit Awami League on Friday (March 23).
The minister said the program will be observed to remind the world community about the mass killing of Pakistan army in 1971 and for recognition of March 25 as the International Genocide Day.
“March 25 will be observed as ‘genocide day’ for the first time this year and a ‘one minute blackout’ program will also be observed countrywide at 9:00pm”, he said.
Earlier, Home Minister announced for a one-minute blackout program on the night of March 25. This time a moment of silence is also announced to mark the Genocide Day.
However, the electricity supply won’t be cut centrally; the blackout program will be observed personally.
