DHAKA: An unidentified young man was killed while exchanging fire with the members of Detective Branch (DB) of police in Mirpur of Dhaka early Friday (March 23).

The deceased was aged around 25.

Mirpur Model Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Khandaker Munjur Rahi told Banglanews that DB conducted a drive in Bhanga Bridge-Shapla Housing area of Mirpur around 2:30am.

The youth sustained bullet injuries while exchanging fire with DB members.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where physician pronounced him dead.  

Three pistols were recovered from the spot, said the SI.
