CHITTAGONG: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated BNA Bangabandhu Complex at Bangladesh Naval Academy (BNA) in Chittagong Wednesday (March 21). 

The complex has been built on the bank of the Karnaphuli River with a 41-feet high bronze made bust of Bangabandhu in front. It is the first international standard training academy of Bangladesh Navy with all modern facilities.

The complex has 16 buildings and other infrastructures for academic activities and training as well as residential purposes. It also has wardroom, parade ground, swimming pool, boat-pool and other facilities.

To ensure international standard training, the complex has seamanship, antisubmarine, gunnery and communication model room, chart room, library, computer and language club, modern auditorium and seven different types of laboratories.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone of the complex on December 29, 2010.

Navy Chief Admiral Mohammad Nizamuddin Ahmed received the prime minister on her arrival at the Naval Academy. Cabinet members, PM's advisors, parliament members, leaders of different political parties and senior civil and military officials were present.

However, Sheikh Hasian will address public rally organized jointly by Chittagong district North, South and City units of Awami League, at Patiya Model High School ground in the afternoon. 

The premier is expected to inaugurate around 28 development projects and lay foundation stones of 14 other schemes during her daylong visit.
