DHAKA: An elderly mother and her daughter were found murdered at their rented residence in Kalachandpur area of Dhaka’s Gulshan on Tuesday night (March 20).
Police is suspecting a nephew of a deceased over the murders.
“The incident is being investigated. Who and why the murder incidents took place will be revealed once the investigation is done”, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Gulshan Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mostak Ahmed told reporters.
The deceased were identified as Beset Chian, 65, and Sujat Chian, 40, from Garo community. They used to live in the 3rd floor of a seven-storey building at Khanbari road in Kalachandpur.
Bodies of the duo have been recovered, said Gulshan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Bakar Siddik.
Locals said that Sujat’s son-in-law Pelesta saw her dead with throat-slit body after entering their flat.
Beset was found dead under the bed. She might be choked to death, said police.
The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at 12:30am Wednesday (March 21).
It was shown in the CCTV footage of the house that four persons including Sujat’s nephew Sanjit entered the house at 4:00pm and left before 6:00pm.
Family feud might have resulted in the murders, said police.
