HABIGANJ: A 55-year-old woman was beaten to death by the rivals following a dispute over a trivial matter, in Bahubal upazila of Habiganj Tuesday (March 20).

The deceased was identified as Kadar Chan Bibi, wife of Jahur Ali from Tarapasha village under Bahubal.

Jahur, 70, was also injured in the same incident. He has been admitted to Habiganj district Adhunik sadar hospital. 

Police said that one Jinnot Ali and Abdul Majid from the same village engaged in a quarrel with Jahur over a trifling matter Monday night (March 19).
At one stage, some men led by the duo gave Jahur and Kadar a good beating, leaving them injured.

They were sent to Habiganj sadar hospital. Kadar’s condition was deteriorating and afterwards she succumbed to injuries while being taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital at noon.

Bahubal sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Masuk Ali told Banglanews that they have visited the spot.

Police launched drive to nab the accused, the OC added.
