DHAKA: Wife of Captain Abid Sultan, the ill-fated pilot of US-Bangla Airlines who died the next morning of the fatal plane crash in Nepal, has been hospitalized after she suffered a stroke.

Afsana Khanom had the stroke at her Uttara residence in Dhaka Sunday (March 18). Her family members took her to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Neuroscience Hospital in Agargaon.

“Afsana was admitted here at noon”, an official of the hospital told Banglanews.   

“She underwent a surgery afterwards. Her condition isn’t out of danger but better than before”, added the official named Taposhi.

At least 51 people were killed as flight BS211 of US-Bangla Airlines burst into flames at the Tribhuban International Airport in Kathmandu of Nepal on March 12.

Captain Abid Sultan was rescued in a critical condition. He breathed his last at Norvic Hospital International Hospital in Kathmandu on March 13 while undergoing treatment.

The deadly crash in the history of Bangladesh aviation claimed lives of 26 Bangladeshis, 22 Nepalese, and a Chinese.
