PM stresses on science-technology based education

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has emphasized on science and technology related education for students as it will help creating a time-befitting education system.

The premier made the remark while addressing an award giving program organized by University Grants Commission (UGC) at Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Sunday (February 25).

The function was organized to hand over ‘Prime Minister Gold Medal Award’ to 265 meritorious students of different universities for getting highest marks in respective faculties.

The PM said, “No nation can move forward without gaining higher knowledge in Science and Technology. Our education system must be brought up to speed with the world and there should be more scope for research in this sector.”

Praising Bangladeshi students’ meritorious ability, Sheikh Hasina said they just need opportunity for growing. We have to make that they can nourish their potential. We already took initiatives to build a university in every district gradually.

The Premier also asked guardians to not pressure students for study but to create an environment so that they can learn on their own. She urged students to participate in different types of sports and exercise beside education for fitness.
