‘Smuggler’ killed in Benapole BGB fire Benapole port police station

BENAPOLE (JESSORE): Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) shot a suspected smuggler to death while he was attacking the law enforcers during smuggling in Bangladesh-India border in Jessore’s Benapole.

The deceased was identified as Ibrahim, 28, a resident of Benapole union. 

Daulatpur BGB Camp Subedar Jahangir Hossain told Banglanews that tipped-off they conducted a drive to nab the smugglers in the border at Terghor area of Daulatpur. 

The smugglers launched attack at the BGB members. 
BGB members opened fire in retaliation, leaving one of them dead.    

However, Indian clothes including saree and some other goods were recovered from the spot, said the subedar.

Rustom Ali, a nephew of the deceased, told Banglanews that Ibrahim wasn’t accused in any case with police station. 

Benapole Port Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC, Probe) Firoz Uddin told Banglanews that BGB handed over the body to police.

The body will be sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, he said.
