Reinstate 674 sacked Ansar men: HC

DHAKA: The High Court has directed the government to reinstate the 674 men who were sacked over the 1994 Ansar mutiny but acquitted from charges later.

Of the 674 Ansar men, mentally and physically fit persons will get their job back. 

Moreover, the court also directed the government to give a pension facility (for as long as they were in service) to those who are incapable of rejoining.

An HC bench of Justices Sheikh Hasan Arif and Md Badruzzaman passed the order on Sunday (February 18) declaring two separate rules issued on this regard as appropriate.

The court order must be implemented within three months after receiving the verdict.

Lawyer Syed Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, Md. Shahabuddin Khan Larj and Rashedul Huq Khokon moved for the Ansar men while Deputy Attorney General Pratikar Chakma and Assistant Attorney General Suchira Hossain moved fort he state.

After the verdict, lawyers said the HC ordered to reinstate 674 Ansar men who were sacked over the Ansar mutiny on Nov 30 in 1994. Those who still have the fitness will get back their job.

Earlier on April 13 and July 10 in 2017, the HC ordered to reinstate 189 and 1447 Ansar men respectively.
